The gallery has been updated with 246 DVD screen captures from last years action packed ‘Spy Kids: All The Time In The World 4D, which saw Jessica play spy-mom Marissa Wilson in her first children film.
The genesis for this film came from an incident on the set of Machete. Star Jessica Alba had her then-one year old baby Honor and was dressed to appear on camera when her diaper “exploded”. Watching Alba change the diaper while trying not to get anything on her clothes prompted Robert Rodriguez to think “What about a spy mom?”
Jessica Alba looked more like a kawaii Japanese student than an elemantry school teacher in the (most underated film of 2010) dramatic directorial feature debut by Marilyn Agrelo ‘An Invisible Sign’.
Jessica Alba tackles a different kind of role then we are used to seeing her in, and she did a excellent job throughout the film. I haven’t read the book, but the storyline was all over the place, and not very well put together, which I blame on the director.
“I really did not picture her as the lead in this film,” says director Marilyn Agrelo, who is best known for the culty child-performer documentary Mad Hot Ballroom. “I knew her as a piece of pop culture, Fantastic Four, this sort of thing.” In a single meeting, Alba won Angrelo over. “I was so surprised by her intelligence, her thoughtfulness, her poise,” Angrelo says. “She’s a real, flesh-and-blood, fully realized woman.”
Costar Chris Messina, who plays a science teacher who becomes Mona’s love interest, describes Alba’s work in the film as “magnificent.” “Jessica’s a beautiful woman, so this business is going to want to put her in a bikini or put a gun in her hand, but she’s just more than that,” Messina Says. “It seemed to me that she really seized this.”
The result, according to Agrelo, is a performance that could change the course of Alba’s career. “I remember when Pulp Fiction opened, and people kind of laughed at the idea of John Travolta in that role. He blew everyone away,” she says. “When things like that happen, it’s wonderful. And it’s so rare that you get to be the one who pulls the surprise out of the hat.” (ELLE, March 2010).
Don’t forget to put this on your Xmas wish list!!!
Finally after 3-years of waiting ‘An Invisible Sign‘ staring Jessica Alba, Bailee Madison and J.K. Simmons is available on Region 1 DVD & Blue-Ray yesterday (Released November 1st). I bought my copy for $11.99 on Amazon yesterday, and I shall post a review + screencaptures ones i receive it. Below is a summary of the content of the DVD via Houston Press.
The Set-up: Jessica Alba is Mona, a 20-year-old math whiz who’s somewhat adrift. Her father’s been mentally ill for years and Mona’s way of coping with that has been making deals with the universe. She’ll give up her favorite things and in exchange the universe will give her back her healthy, happy dad. The only thing Mona hasn’t given up is math. When her mother (played beautifully by Sonia Braga) forces her to leave home, Mona gets a job teaching math at an elementary school where she meets a handsome co-worker (Chris Messina).
The Execution: Alba, usually the sexy, sultry beauty plays the geeky, shy Mona to perfection. In baggy, unfashionable clothes, wearing bangs that badly need trimming, she’s still a magnet on screen. Alba doesn’t take a single misstep on her journey from socially clueless outcast to blossoming, creative young woman.
The Verdict: Alba is charming as the awkward Mona. With a less-is-more attitude in her approach to the character, Alba brings Mona to life slowly, carefully and wonderfully. This is a small, quiet movie that holds its own.
It was in 2005 that Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller’s first Sin City feature film hit theaters and, for the intervening six-plus years, rumors have persisted of development on a big-screen sequel. At this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, Rodriguez announced that a script was ready and that the project could go before cameras before the year’s end.
Today, MTV has an update from Miller, who says that some tinkering is still being done on the script and a more realistic start date would be the spring of 2012. Already heavily rumored, Miller also confirms that the character of Nancy Callahan (played by Jessica Alba in the original) will again make an appearance, as will Marv (originally played by Mickey Rourke).
“‘Sin City’ number two is primarily an adaptation of the book ‘A Dame to Kill For’,” Miller reiterated, then adding: “It also features the short story, ‘Just Another Saturday Night’ and two new stories. One involving Jessica Alba’s character, Nancy Callahan, that I came up with for the movie in order to tie things together and make it be more united with the first.”
Callahan is also featured in “A Dame to Kill For” and, with Alba’s recent appearance in Rodriguez’s Spy Kids 4: All the Time in the World, another teaming with the director isn’t surprising (although still not fully confirmed). What is a bit more of a twist is the inclusion of “Just Another Saturday Night”, a Marv-centered story that originally ran in “Sin City #1/2″. The timeline of it runs concurrently with “That Yellow Bastard” (adapted in the first film). Marv also appears in “Dame” but there has, for years, been fan speculation that the story might have removed the character due to Rourke’s announced reluctance to return to the role. Whether the actor’s thoughts have changed or whether the part might be recast remains to be seen.
For those keeping score, a shot-for-shot adaptation of “Dame” would also include parts for Gail (Rosario Dawson), Miho (Devon Aoki) and Manute (Michael Clarke Duncan). The story’s lead is the character of Dwight McCarthy who, though played by Clive Owen in the original, is supposed to have undergone significant facial reconstructive surgery between the events of “Dame” and “The Big Fat Kill”.
At SDCC, Rodriguez also revealed the title of one of the new stories as “The Long Bad Night”, meaning that, unless things have changed, there’s just one title left to be revealed as part of the new film (coming soon).
Weinstein Co.’s PG-rated Spy Kids: All the Time in the World in 4D was the top family film in the marketplace earning $12 million in its debut. The latest installment of the successful franchise and brainchild of noted R-rated action director Robert Rodriguez and adds the novelty factor of a “fourth” dimension called Aroma-Scope that will enable an interactive scratch and sniff experience for the entire family.
A very tough weekend at the box office and the first “down” weekend in over a month as the “dog days of August” unfortunately took hold of a weak late-summer marketplace. (Hollywood.com)

I think Honor is excited about becoming a big sister. She’s getting into this stage now where she gets to do big kid stuff — and we try to make a big deal out of these little things.
We talk about how impressed we are that she doesn’t have to have her fruit cut up into small pieces anymore and gets desserts like cupcakes and ice cream. She gets to go potty in the toilet and doesn’t have to wear diapers anymore. She gets to have a lollipop or gets to chew gum as a special treat (as long as she throws it away and doesn’t swallow it!). She can ride a scooter, and she can sit in a big-girl swing.
So I emphasize all these awesome things that she gets to do that the baby won’t be able to do. And she gets excited about having someone in the house that’s younger than her, who doesn’t get to do all these awesome things either (hee hee).
We talk about how cool it will be to watch her younger sibling grow, and she will show her sibling how to do everything she can. My parents got her this sweet book called Big Sister, which is one of our bedtime books. Oh, and we also tell her that the baby won’t be able to play with her Barbies or American Girl dolls. Of course, it’s a safety issue, but Honor loves the thought that, for now, they’re only her toys. Little does she know when she gets older she’s gonna have to share… I guess we’ll tackle that one when the time comes!
As for me, I’m excited, nervous and ready. I’ve seen my friends who have multiple children, and seeing siblings love on each other is just the sweetest thing ever. Although I fought with my little brother a lot growing up, we were best friends, and I’d take vengeance on anyone who hurt him — especially his feelings.
The idea of loving someone as much as I love Honor is something I haven’t wrapped my head around yet. But I know I will and I can’t wait. As a mother carrying a baby we get to bond while the baby is growing — reaching each milestone, feeling hiccups, kicks, rolling around. It’s the blessing I think we get for all the round-ligament pain, sciatic pain and frequent trips to the bathroom…
I’m signed up at three mommy sites that update me daily and weekly on the baby’s development, which is probably a bit much. But it’s a nice break from the day to check in with the baby, because, like everything else in life these days, time flies. (Ivillage)

The Spy Kids star shares what’s different about her second pregnancy in part 3 of her exclusive iVillage blog series
So, as you may or may not know, I’m pregnant with my second child. I’m often asked what’s different this time around. Here it goes:
CRAVINGS: I have a fierce, insatiable craving for watermelon. I dream about it. No, seriously, I really do.
EXERCISE: I’m doing prenatal yoga and taking 30-minute walks through my last trimester, which is more than I did with Honor. And my belly popped much quicker with this one. I have a bit more discomfort that I don’t remember having with my first, but I am toting and keeping up with a 3-year-old and still running around a lot — so I have been blessed with some saviors: an ahhhmazing chiro named Dr. Takahashi and my yoga teacher, Aria. I thank my lucky stars for them.
WEIGHT GAIN: I’ve banned my loving husband from cooking a half a pack of bacon every morning and ordering or buying five desserts for dinner every night. We both put on a lot of weight the first time around and made a pact this time to eat better.
NURSERY: When we had Honor, we had everything prepped and ready to go — and not just for the initial newborn stage. We had a couple of stages checked off following that: probably a typical case of over-preparation. Right now we’re renovating our home to make room for baby No. 2, so we’re in a rental and we’re nowhere near the stage we were at when I was pregnant with Honor. And you know what… that’s okay. It turns out, the first five months Honor was in our room anyway in a co-sleeper, so I’m not too stressed about being overly prepared and having everything set up perfectly this time.** Kinda just going with the flow.
Really, our attention is with Honor right now, more than anything. She’s aware that there’s going to be a big change. The new baby is gonna cry and go to the bathroom and want to be fed — that’s kinda what they do in the beginning. We’re really dedicating as much time to making Honor feel as special as possible and a part of this new adjustment in our lives.
**Side note — I am soooooo excited about eventually getting to the new nursery! I love design blogs and it’s nice to see nurseries where people don’t replicate a store display. I aim for an eclectic mix of furniture found at flea markets, Etsy, and my fave baby brands with an emphasis on non-toxic materials. I’d like to do a “before and after” blog post down the road some time. I’d love to know some of your fave design blog sites that I should submit to! (Ivillage)

The Honest Company
The Honest Company is a newly created brand that passionately believes that all parents should have access to safer, healthier family products that don’t break the bank. Parents are becoming increasingly concerned about poorly regulated, chemically-laden, baby products, but the alternatives are often expensive, inaccessible, and bland. The need and desire for affordable and non-toxic products – e...specially baby diapers and essentials – is greater than ever.
In response to this market gap, The Honest Company offers a monthly subscription service providing expert curated children’s products consisting of what mom’s need most, all conveniently delivered to subscribers’ front-doors!
"When I became a mom, I finally became the person I am, that I always should have been," she says. "It's the most satisfying job in the world. But, it can also be overwhelming and confusing. I created The Honest Company to help moms and to give all children a better, safer start."
"As a mother, I cannot imagine what it must be like for parents who cannot afford the most basic necessities for their babies. No child, regardless of his/her family's socio-economic status, should ever be without diapers, food, clothing or hygiene items. Our goal is to help alleviate some of the burden on these families by providing them with these essentials."
"I was alarmed to learn about all the potential harmful products in my home and lifestyle – like toxic chemicals in plastics used to make baby bottles, brain toxins in children’s toys, carcinogens in my cleaning products… the list went on and on!
Please stand with me as concerned citizen and parent and take action today. Ask your Senators to support the Safe Chemicals Act of 2011. This new bill that would increase the safety of chemicals used in your consumer products, increase public access to health and safety information, and protect vulnerable populations like pregnant women and children."
