Jessica Alba on the Hill
Tweet

Capitol Hill celebrity-watchers were wide-eyed Tuesday as actress Jessica Alba arrived in Washington for a two-day lobbying effort on behalf of the Safe Chemicals Act.

The act seeks to improve the safety of consumer products and increase public awareness about product quality.

Alba hosted a press conference Tuesday and will meet with various politicians through Wednesday to solicit their support. In an interview with POLITICO, Alba said that the act seeks to assure “that the chemicals in our products, that are in and around our children, are safe and tested, because they’re basically untested. And our children as being used as the testing animals, so to say.”

Alba is a spokeswoman for the Safer Chemicals, Healthy Families coalition and became passionate about the issue four years ago, when she learned about toxic plastics used to make some baby products. Alba became increasingly disturbed by the issue when she became a mother herself. Her daughter, Honor Marie, was born in 2008; Alba is currently pregnant with her second child.

“The thing about this issue, maybe more than other issues, is that we’re not asking for any taxpayer money. This is really changing the way businesses run their business and the way that they put their ingredients together,” said Alba. “All the issues are bipartisan, or non-partisan, really. It’s not a political issue at all. It’s really just a humanity issue.”

It’s hardly Alba’s first time championing a cause in Washington. In 2010, she visited Capitol Hill in support of the Education for All Act. In 2009, Alba came to D.C. as the honorary U.S. co-chairwoman of 1GOAL, a campaign that used the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa to draw attention to childhood education issues.

Alba says she’s grown to like Washington.

“It’s lovely, it’s a great place to raise kids,” said Alba, who sees some similarities between the nation’s capital and Hollywood.

“The one thing that’s similar to Los Angeles is I feel like there’s just one industry,” said Alba. Washington has politics and “in L.A., you’ve obviously got Hollywood.”

Joining Alba at the press conference was New Jersey Democratic Sen. Frank Lautenberg, who first introduced the Safe Chemicals Act.

Piaget Possession with Jessica Alba
Tweet

She revealed in February that she’s pregnant with her second child, and now Jessica Alba has another big announcement to make: The actress has been named the new face of Piaget’s Possession jewelry collection.

The Swiss jewelry brand teased Alba’s identity with a video on its Facebook page, but then confirmed that the 29-year-old actress was the one posing in Piaget’s diamonds.

“The thing that’s so great about these pieces is how chic and simple they are,” Alba says in the announcement video. “I love the idea of layering the gold and the silver and the rose gold—and that sparkly line is nice. All those diamonds!”

The campaign was shot by Patrick Demarchelier and styled by Bravo reality star/stylist Brad Goreski, who’s worked with Alba before.

“She’s modern and young and cool and beautiful,” Goreski says of the stunner. “I think Jessica’s the perfect face of Piaget.” (fashionetc.com)

Jimmy Kimmel Live! The Hottie Body Jim-Miracle Diet
Tweet

WANT to know who ate all the pies and also tucked into chocs and cakes, too? Step forward Jessica Biel, Jessica Alba and Scarlett Johansson.

The Hollywood babes star in hilarious before and after slimming shots in a spoof ad for US TV show Jimmy Kimmel Live! They all did the “Jimmy K” diet – he ate 80% of what was on their plates.

Scarlett says before she tried the diet: “I hired a Ninja to slap the food out of my hand before I could eat it.” (Mirror)

I’m gonna be without internet until March 30th, so I won’t be able to update the gallery until then. Anything else I can update from work.

Jimmy Kimmel Live – Hottie Body Hump Club
Tweet

Just watched this on mute at work, but I would most def order this work-out DVD if it was available. Check it out!

Jessica Alba, Jessica Biel, Minka Kelly and Sofia Vergara also took part in an “infomercial” in which the host plays a DVD workout pitchman.

Sunday night marked the sixth annual Jimmy Kimmel Live: After the Academy Awards special, and the host debuted a new comedic video featuring a slew of big-name celebrities, including Scarlett Johansson, Jessica Alba, Jessica Biel, Sofia Vergara and Lindsay Lohan.

The video features Kimmel as “Jimmy K,” creator of a workout DVD titled Hottie Body Humpilates who claims to have helped the hottest celebrities get into shape.

“I train the ladies who fill the big screens in skinny jeans,” Kimmel says. “Let my Hottie Body Humpilates DVD Transform your body from Flabby Abby to Ripa’d Kelly.”

For example, before Vergara used the DVD, “she was a disgusting hippopotamus, but now she’s as hot as the devil’s armpit on the Fourth of July thanks to a workout regime so simple it’s almost impossible to understand,” Kimmel quipped.

Also appearing in the clip are Minka Kelly, Kelly Ripa, Eva Longoria and Emily Blunt. (ThehollywoodReporter.com)

Yes or No to Candids?

What are your views on candids/paparazzi shots?? I know everyone including myself are interested in Jessica’s activities outside of work, but it’s becoming extremely uncomfortable for me to post pictures of her and family looking angry, sad, miserable etc. Therefore I’m thinking of stopping candid related posts all together and focus on the rest. Please cast your vote below. (any good celebrity blog posts daily candids, if we stop posting them).

Thanks everyone who took part in the poll. I shall continue to post candids since its what most of you want, and the site is for the fans after all. Besides that, Jessica hardly attend any events (unless she has something to promote) so there would be nothing to update the site with.

In response to this market gap, The Honest Company offers a monthly subscription service providing expert curated children’s products consisting of what mom’s need most, all conveniently delivered to subscribers’ front-doors!

"When I became a mom, I finally became the person I am, that I always should have been," she says. "It's the most satisfying job in the world. But, it can also be overwhelming and confusing. I created The Honest Company to help moms and to give all children a better, safer start."

Jessica Alba Supports….
"As a mother, I cannot imagine what it must be like for parents who cannot afford the most basic necessities for their babies. No child, regardless of his/her family's socio-economic status, should ever be without diapers, food, clothing or hygiene items. Our goal is to help alleviate some of the burden on these families by providing them with these essentials."

"I was alarmed to learn about all the potential harmful products in my home and lifestyle – like toxic chemicals in plastics used to make baby bottles, brain toxins in children’s toys, carcinogens in my cleaning products… the list went on and on!

Please stand with me as concerned citizen and parent and take action today. Ask your Senators to support the Safe Chemicals Act of 2011. This new bill that would increase the safety of chemicals used in your consumer products, increase public access to health and safety information, and protect vulnerable populations like pregnant women and children."
